Who we are

   The brand Spelta was born in Milan in 1967 but the craftsmanship tradition from the family starts well before the birth of the brand: in 1957 in Parabiago, a suburb of Milan with a tradition in footwear manufacturing, iconic loafers were hand-made, establishing a product symbol of the quality of the Made in Italy.

 

    In the early 80s the Spelta hand stitched “ballerina” shoes become a real cult phenomenon in Milan, thanks to the master mix of attention to style and craftsmanship, and the constant and direct relationship the family keeps with the fashion world.

   Further to a great business growth in the 80s and 90s Spelta Milano decided to diversify its production and introduced additional models of women footwear. The brand has been able to maintain its identity focusing on classic but unique design, with attention and care to the quality of the materials and finishes of the product, with and a medium-low product positioning.

   In the course of the years, the Spelta “Ballerina” shoes have always been presented like the brand’s “testimonial”. Still today the Spelta ‘Ballerina” shoes are made with the traditional Goodyear stitching (stitch and lapel of the upper).

 

   Recently the brand has refreshed its image, still based on its values of excellence: the “Ballerina” shoe tradition, the Milan origin, the hand-made manufacturing and finally the re-launch of the most famous models like Nicole and Lola, the “ballerina” shoe with a strap.

 

   The new communication campaign for Spelta Milano, underlines the claim “Ballerine in Citta’” (direct translation is Dancer in the City as ballerina means dancer in Italian), portraying various international cities, which gain color thanks to the steps made with the colorful “ballerina” shoes.

 

   Today the Spelta Milano “Ballerina” shoes are presented in their Boutique in via Solferino 1 in Milan and are available for many other prestigious international fashion and footwear stores. The choice of the models, the search of the materials, the imagination used in creating fantastic combinations have transformed the traditional collections still maintaining the greatest quality, confirming Spelta as an iconic brand, capable to please its female clients, from grandmothers to granddaughters!
