MICAM Milano September 2026: Ballerina Trends to Know

From 13 to 15 September 2026, MICAM Milano returns, one of the most important international events dedicated to the world of footwear.

The exhibition takes place at Fieramilano Rho and brings together manufacturers, buyers, designers, and industry professionals from all over the world.

The September edition already looks ahead to the spring/summer 2027 collections but also arrives at an interesting time to observe the trends that are characterizing the world of shoes. And among the models that continue to play an important role are ballet flats.

🥿 Ballet flats continue to evolve

A few years ago, there was talk of the return of ballet flats. Today, this style is firmly established in women's wardrobes, and it is primarily its new interpretations that are changing.

Alongside the more classic shapes, we find higher-cut silhouettes, straps, new materials, and details that give ballet flats a different character.

For autumn/winter 2026-2027, models inspired by Mary Janes and shapes that cover the foot more are also gaining prominence. There isn't just one fashionable ballet flat; it is precisely the variety of styles that makes this season interesting.

🍷 New colors: from burgundy to chocolate

Colors also change with the arrival of the cold season.

Burgundy is one of the most prominent shades and represents an alternative to classic black. Alongside it, we find deep browns, chocolate, and natural shades, which stand out very well on materials like suede.

Black naturally remains, but the winter 2026/2027 palette also makes room for warmer tones and some bolder colors.

🎀 Mary Janes, straps, and higher-cut shapes

One of the most evident trends concerns the shape of the shoe.

The line between ballet flat and Mary Jane has become less distinct. The strap over the instep continues to appear in new collections, along with higher-cut models that maintain the typical low profile of ballet flats.

Toes also change: the classic rounded shape is joined by almond toes and more geometric lines.

Small differences that allow a well-known shoe to be reinterpreted without losing its identity.

🧵 Materials and textures gain more importance

For the cold season, more textural surfaces also come to the forefront.

Suede is particularly prominent, along with velvet, pony hair, processed leathers, and weaves. These materials add depth even to the simplest colors and significantly change the look of the shoe.

A brown suede ballet flat, for example, conveys a very different image compared to the same shade on smooth leather.

Color and material thus become part of the same game.

👠 MICAM Milano and new footwear trends

MICAM is also an opportunity to observe closely how the world of shoes is changing, among new models, materials, colors, and ideas destined for subsequent seasons. The edition also includes events dedicated to trends and color forecasts.

For ballet flats, it's a particularly interesting time: after their big comeback in recent years, they continue to evolve without abandoning the shapes that made them recognizable.
